The year 2005 was like yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He enjoyed success entering the charts with his first national hit, "Icy," became involved in a quarrel with that song's collaborator, Young Jeezy, and found himself facing murder charges in the Georgia courts. Before his career as a rapper, Gucci Mane, whose birth name is Radric Davis, loved to write poetry when he was in elementary school. He moved to Atlanta from Birmingham, AL, with his single mother during the fourth grade. Since progressing to rap was a fairly easy step, Gucci Mane already had spent time in a recording studio by the age of 14. The glamour and sense of fashion of rappers like Big Daddy Kane motivated him to put words to music. His locally played debut single, "Black Tee," earned him a contract with Big Cat Records, and in May 2005 the label released his debut album, Trap House, which stood at the number one spot on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

The beef with Young Jeezy originated from a fight over the rights to the album's "Icy" hit single, which spawned a number of dis tracks traded between the two. Within the same month of his LP's release, Gucci Mane was arrested for murder following an altercation in which he shot at a group of five men who burst into his friend's house, threatening to kill the rapper. As it turned out, the murdered attacker was an associate of Young Jeezy, but he has denied any involvement with the incident. Gucci Mane declared in court that it was self-defense, and by January 2006, Georgia prosecutors dropped all charges, citing lack of evidence. After being released from jail (on charges unrelated to the murder) that same month, he quickly went back into the studio to make his second album, Hard to Kill, which was released in October. He took the song "Go Head" from his first album and made it the lead single for the second in order to make up for the time taken away from promoting Trap House. According to TMZ, T.I. and Tiny were arrested for possession of a controlled substance (not cocaine). Rumor has it that the two were in possession of methamphetamines and ecstasy pills. Not entirely sure how true those rumors are but if they ARE Tiny May Face A Year Over Ecstasy; Metha-Amphetamines Possession as well as T.I. faces probation violation. Here are some photos that TMZ has obtained of the two being escorted in separate squad cars.

Grammy-winning rapper T.I., who is still on probation after spending time behind bars on gun charges, was arrested along with his wife on drug charges after police smelled alleged marijuana coming from their car, authorities said.

The Wednesday night arrests for possession of a controlled substance occurred in West Hollywood during a traffic stop, Los Angeles sheriff's deputy Mark Pope told The Associated Press.

"Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," the department said. "A narcotics investigation ensued" that resulted in the arrests.

The department's media office said it didn't yet have details on which specific drug the possession charge concerned.

T.I. and Tiny were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station. Bail was set at $10,000 each.

T.I. currently faces the risk of this arrest leading to probation violation charges. T.I. was recently released from Federal prison after doing time for possessing an illegal firearm and possessing a gun as a convicted felon.

D’Aveli, born Damien Vivona in New Jersey on April 28, 1976 to Benedict and Charlene Vivona, grew up with a love of music inspired by his father, who played saxophone for such music greats as George Benson & Frankie Valli. His musical interests range from KISS, Guns And Roses to Beastie Boys, MJG and Notorious B.I.G. but Damien followed the music and career of Tupac Shakur aka Makaveli so closely that his friends on the street dubbed him “D’Aveli The Don” and it stuck. In his early 20’s, D’Aveli worked in the packing and shipping department for Leisure Time Music Manny G. Wells, a rack jobber in New York, where he learned a lot about the business aspects of the music industry. He took advantage of an opportunity and in a bold move bought the public domain trademark of the infamous Casablanca Records, home to such popular acts as the Village People and Donna Summer, as well as the logo of the urban-based Death Row Records, early home to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. D’Aveli saw a chance to re-invent these hugely successful labels. He began writing his own lyrics to address and express the issues and interests of the Italian-American street culture and a new genre called Italian Hop emerged.
